Ideas for What to Pack in Easter Baskets

1

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. When I was younger my parents would hide our Easter baskets around the house and we would have to hunt for them. I can remember being so upset one year because I could not find my basket for the life of me. My parents had been really sneaky and put it in the oven! Another year it was hidden underneath the kitchen sink.

There were always certain items that were included in the baskets that we had to look forward to. Once my husband and I had our own children, we decided to adopt the same tradition and create baskets for our kids to enjoy.

I don’t think Easter baskets have to be big or extravagant. Simple and inexpensive can and is just as fun.

Do whatever works best for you and your family. Here are some ideas for things that you can include:

Candy

I feel like this one goes without saying. My boys love candy, so I know that I need to keep treats to a reasonable level because they will eat whatever I give them. But it’s inexpensive and makes them happy.

Coloring Books/Craft Supplies

Buying a few new coloring books can be a really fun treat for little ones. Pick some up at the dollar store or in the dollar section at Target or Michaels. For older kids or teens, a set of Prisma coloring pencils and an adult coloring book could be really cool.

Small Toys

My boys are super into Legos and got Lego Dimensions for Christmas this year, so I’m planning on getting them a few new lego game pieces for them to play on the Wii U. Last year I got my eldest son a Lego Mixels set.

Cookies

One tradition my parents had and we have continued, is including cookies from Le Chantilly in our boys’ Easter baskets. We buy the sugar cookies dipped in fondant icing and they are SO good.

Swim Suits

I’m a big fan of buying things that are multi-purpose. I buy something that will fill space in their baskets, but also that will be used. So every year our boys get new swimsuits in their baskets that they then wear and use for the rest of the summer.

What do you include in your Easter baskets?
