Alexa, I want to take a second and thank you. Thank you for helping me when:

  • I’m nursing the baby and the toddler is fussy.
  • I have a to-do list the size of Texas.
  • I’m trying to get dinner on the table.
  • I need a mommy time out.

Alexa, girl, you are my virtual BFF.

Entertain Your Toddler with Amazon Echo :: How Alexa Became My BFF from Albuquerque Moms Blog

Amazon Echo, a.k.a. “Alexa,” is a lifesaver for this mama of two. The magical little device can occupy little ones when you need to get stuff done. Simply say these commands and Alexa can be your BFF, too!

“Open Zoo Keeper.”

My daughter loves playing Zoo Keeper. Say an animal and hear a real life animal noise! Your toddler will love listening to the pig squeal and the snake hiss. It’s been so fun to watch my daughter learn how to say hippopotamus, rhinoceros, and alligator. You can download the Zoo Keeper skill on the Amazon app.

“Play Nursery Rhymes Radio on Pandora.”

To limit screen time, we listen to music. My toddler loves singing along with her favorite nursery rhymes and having dance parties in the living room. Music is great for distracting her if she gets fussy or bored. We also listen to a lullaby station before nap time.

“Open Sesame Street.”

Call Elmo and he will tell you about the letter of the day. Elmo will also play Hide and Seek. This is a fun skill you can download to help your little ones learn their ABC’s.

“Open Amazon Story Time.”

You can have story time on demand with Amazon Story Time. Kick back, relax, and enjoy professionally narrated stories on your device.

“Sing me a song!'”

Wanna hear a silly song? Just ask Alexa to sing for you! I must say, she does a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday.

Alexa is fun, easy, and educational. I’m so glad I can call on her when I need help. Share your favorite Amazon Echo skills below!
