Albuquerque is the perfect-sized city. Every time I visit a truly big city, I feel claustrophobic. There are so many people and buildings, I feel like I can hardly breathe. Denver, L.A., Atlanta, and Miami, you’re fun and all, but your traffic. I. Just. Can’t.

But little ol’ Albuquerque, you’re my sweet spot. You’re big enough that we have most of the amenities of a big city without the congestion. And one big city luxury that Albuquerque is lucky to have is a dedicated blow dry bar called Blo Blow Dry Bar.

Blo Blow Dry Bar | Albuquerque Moms BlogBlo is a place to get your hair styled. No cuts. No color. Get a blow out. Or maybe you want something extra? You can get an up-do, braids, or extensions. Check out all the styles you can choose from in Blo’s hair menu.

If you come to Blo, you’re not cheating on your regular stylist. This is something totally different from your normal cut and color.

The Albuquerque Blo location (off Paseo & San Pedro . . . behind Chick-Fil-A and Chipotle) also offers make-up services.

Blo is a perfect choice for weddings, prom, dance recitals, photo shoots, high school reunions, first dates (or hundredth dates), holiday parties (or any day parties), interviews, or any time you want to look your best.

If I ever had unlimited resources, here are the top things I would do for myself. (Of course, I would give lots of money to other people first. Don’t judge me.)

  1. Hire a housekeeper (yes, and amen).
  2. Hire a personal chef (why do my people want to eat so often?).
  3. Have somebody do my hair every day (for real though, you don’t know my hair).

Recently, I got a chance to have my #3 come true for a day when I visited Blo Blow Dry Bar. It had been an intense morning getting my kids to school and getting some things done for work. So I only had time to scrunch my hair and go before rushing out the door.

When I stepped into Blo’s serene storefront that day, I was ready to relax. The space is so comfortable and beautiful. It’s white and airy and just a pleasant place to be.

The first thing I did was meet my blo-er (aka stylist). She handed me a hair menu, and we discussed what kind of style I wanted.

Then we headed off to my favorite part. The hair wash station! Mamas, if you’re stressed, you need to have someone wash your hair. All of your cares will drain down the sink. You can even add a head massage. Yes, please!

After that, I sat in my comfy seat while someone else tamed my tresses. Here’s a little before and after photo. I loved my hair and felt kinda like a movie star. Not gonna lie. I swung my hair about a lot that day.

My blo-er used some magic styling products on me, I believe, because this was my day four hair.

(Listen, it’s really dry here, and washing my hair takes a lot of energy. If you want to judge my dirty hair, you can, but I didn’t have to do my hair for four days. So I think I’m the winner here.)

They do sell their styling products in the salon.

If you haven’t tried Blo Blow Dry Bar yet, it’s a little gift you’re gonna want to give yourself. Also, a gift card would be a great present for almost any woman. (Hint, hint, husband-of-mine, are you reading this?)

If you’re ready for some beachy waves or red-carpet curls, you can book an appointment online or give Blo a call at 505.431.5911.
