Albuquerque Moms Blog: Introducing Nicole Marquez

0

Hello, everyone! My name is Nicole Marquez and I am so excited to be joining the Albuquerque Moms Blog as one of their new contributors. I love true crime podcasts, traveling, working out, drinking tea (not coffee!), and spending quality time with my husband. It’s so nice to meet you!

Albuquerque

I moved to Albuquerque when I was nine years old. I’m a military brat, which is what brought my family to New Mexico. Prior to that I lived in Texas, North Dakota, and Louisiana. Albuquerque is definitely home for me, and I love it. We have the best weather, sunsets, and green chile. I graduated from Eldorado High School and received a Bachelor’s degree and MBA from UNM’s Anderson School of Management.

My husband and I met at the end of the fall semester in 2008. For the longest time we said we met at a party, but we actually met at a rave–sorry mom. Most stories like this would have ended soon after they began, but not ours. We were inseparable from the start and got married in the summer of 2013.

Prior to having kids, we decided to get some practice in with two fur babies. We have a fluffy, sassy cat named Ziggy Stardust (his name really suits him) and a French bulldog named Otis. He is such a goofball and the biggest couch potato. We welcomed our human baby, Lorenzo, into the world in January of 2018. If you had pets prior to having kids, then you know that taking care of pets cannot prepare you for taking care of a baby. It has been a whirlwind experience to say the least, but Enzo is the light of our lives. He’s so sweet and playful and was the perfect addition to our little family.

When I was pregnant, I knew that I wanted to continue my career and I’m happy to say I love being a working mom. I’m the Community Relations Specialist at Dion’s. My first job in high school was actually at Dion’s. If you’re from Albuquerque, there’s a good chance you grew up eating there too. I never would have guessed I’d end up working for them again. I love what I do because I’m able to connect with so many organizations in our community. It can be hard being away from my son some days, but we’ve found a balance that works for us. Plus, I get to eat a lot of pizza, which is a pretty solid perk.

Blog

After having Enzo, I truly understood the saying “it takes a village.” I discovered so many online moms groups and blogs and was comforted to see all of these moms helping each other. I was excited to find the Albuquerque Moms Blog because it allowed me to connect with local moms. We’re all trying to navigate motherhood and I hope this blog helps other moms on their journey.
