I may not like green chile on my food,
but I like the people in my hood.
I like this crazy state, where I’ve lived 10 years with my mate.
My kids are New Mexicans through and through.
And I consider myself one too.
The traffic is light.
The weather is bipolar.
Just don’t rear end someone during balloon season in October.
I grew up in Arizona and love living in the Southwest.
I am the mother of two beautiful souls. It is an honor and a privilege to be their mother. My girls are four years apart. They are American, Latina and Greek. They are strong willed and sweet all at the same time. Watching them grow up together is like having a front row seat to the best show in town.
My first introduction to writing came at an early age. To keep me busy while she studied, my mother had me write stories based on the illustrations on the cover of her New Yorker magazines.
I would disappear into the maze of my imagination and she would get to finish her course work.
Since then, I have written for the student newspaper at Arizona State University and then in 2011, after giving birth to my first bundle of joy, I created Yuppie Chicana.
Yuppie Chicana is a personal blog of messages and stories for my daughters to read later in life. In the meantime, it is an outlet for me to express myself and maybe make some people laugh or cry along the way. I am excited to be a contributor for Albuquerque Moms Blog.
