My husband and I were most fortunate to be invited to the first Brew Master Craft Beer Dinner at Black Angus Steakhouse with Sierra Blanca Brewery. This was their first pairing night, and it was a blowout success! From the time we arrived, until we left, we were handled like VIP and treated to 4 courses of the very best Black Angus has to offer. Sierra Blanca and Black Angus sat down and very carefully crafted a detailed menu pairing, filled with Starters, Salads, mouth-watering filets, and and decadent desserts, all paired with equally tantalizing and indulging beer pairings.
There was truly something for everyone that night, and fortunately for me, ALL of it was highly agreeable. We have zero doubt we will back, and heading straight for their filet, home-style mashed potatoes and anything else we can get our hands on. It’s also to be noted that the prices are VERY reasonable, and there is a kids’ menu along with a gluten free menu.
Below, the menu for the night and a few pictures to highlight the amazing plates and beers offered.
Crispy Fried Garlic Pepper Zucchini
Paired with Alien Amber Ale, a clean, heady, malty amber with an excellent caramel malty finish.
BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad with black beans, corn, diced tomato, shredded cheese, ranch and BBQ drizzle and cilantro.
Paired with Bone Chiller Brown Ale, a mild floral hop taste with hints of chocolate and a nutty finish. (My favorite!)
Course 3: (My favorite!)
Filet Mignon topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms, served with mashed potatoes.
Paired with Alien Imperial Stout, with a malty and roasty aroma, and coffee notes with a sweet finish. (delish!)
I’m telling you, in all seriousness (because I take my steaks SERIOUSLY) this was hands-down the best filet mignon I have EVER had. It was butter-soft, juicy, and expertly marinated with nothing less than wizardry.
Bourbon Pecan Pie with a buttery crust (to die for), layered with rich Kentucky Bourbon filling, topped with pecan halves.
Paired with Cherry Wheat, an American-style wheat beer bursting with cherry flavor.
This was akin to a slice of pie with a cherry on top!
And, if gorging ourselves on all their delights wasn’t enough, we were able to meet with and compliment the chef, the managers, and the owner of Sierra Blanca Brewery. We all chatted, took pictures and learned much of the brewing technique and art, history of the Brewery and thought process behind each pairing.
