Hello fellow mamas of Albuquerque! I am so excited to join the Albuquerque Mom’s Blog family as the Sponsorship Coordinator. I can’t wait to help grow our Mom Blog community and introduce you all to the amazing businesses of Albuquerque.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque and am thankful to have the opportunity to raise my family in the only place I have known as home. I grew up on the west side of Albuquerque, in Taylor Ranch to be exact.

After graduating from Cibola High School (Go Cougs!), I continued my long-term relationship with Albuquerque by attending UNM. Eventually I began a career that focused on serving the people of Albuquerque through positive youth development and community outreach. My husband was also born and raised in Albuquerque. (We grew up about 5 minutes away from each other). We met while working at a city community center summer recreation program.

I like to think of Albuquerque as a hidden gem. Albuquerque has the most amazing weather and we get to experience the beauty of all four seasons, sometimes all within 24 hours. Albuquerque has a rich cultural history. I feel lucky that my children get to grow up in such a diverse community.

I’m the typical Albuquerquean who doesn’t usually venture out of the house if it’s raining and don’t even get me started on snow. No, I do not know how to drive in an inch of snow, which is why I am fine with the city shutting down. Plus, who doesn’t love a snow day to cuddle on the couch, read a good book, and drink some tea. Or in my new mom realty, spending 20 minutes bundling up the children to play outside for 5 minutes, subsequent unbundling, and then watching PBS and baking some cookies.

Motherhood

I was one of the first of my friends to have a child, which made for a somewhat lonely pregnancy and postpartum. A lot of my friends were growing their careers, and I was over here growing a human. After having my daughter, Kensington, I only had 6 weeks off of work and didn’t qualify for FMLA. First off, hats off to all of you moms that work full time. Between the sleep deprivation, the pumping every 2 hours, and missing my sweet little girl’s first roll, I was a wreck.

I always wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but it just wasn’t financially available to us at the time. Luckily, all that changed when my daughter was about 7 months old, and I became a stay-at-home mom. I was so happy to be with my baby full time, but staying at home comes with its own set of challenges, such as never having a minute to yourself, monotony, and the unattainable goal of finishing all the laundry.

I always wanted to have children close in age. My sister and I are six years apart, and we rarely had things in common due to the age difference. Two and a half years after having my daughter, my son Windsor was born in 2016.

Adjusting to two children has been challenging at times, but it is the most amazing and heartwarming experience. I am amazed at how my two children can be so different from one another. Kensington is a natural born leader, very strong-willed, and a social butterfly. Windsor is laid-back, very intentional and thoughtful in his actions.

Blog

I have never really considered myself a writer. However, I’m realizing it’s a beautiful way to be creative, express yourself, and process motherhood. As it stands right now, I’m more of a consumer rather than creator of blogs. I love following blogs about peaceful parenting approaches and inspiration for activities to do with my two little ones.

I have been following Albuquerque Mom’s Blog for awhile now, and I love seeing the Albuquerque community connect and grow in motherhood together.
