No Excuse At-Home Date Nights

0

When we had our daughter, my husband and I didn’t realize how much harder it would be to make the necessary time for one another. Before having her, we would pick up dinner, check out the latest movie, just head out, and drive around. We had so much time to spend with each other. Fast forward to being the parents of a toddler, and now the days look very different. Date night almost seems out of the question.

I realized a few months into being a new parent that things were different. and it would be much harder to just pick up and go as we once did. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I ordered Hello Fresh for the first time and one of the meals turned into the first of many at-home date nights where we cooked together. He chopped and I stirred. We had wine, and we had time for US.

My daughter was asleep so it was a perfect chance to catch up and get back to what really matters.

At Home Date Nights

Dating is so important as you grow into the years of your marriage and add on to your family. The two that started it all should always matter.

I want to share a few DIY at-home date nights with you to create for you and your sweetheart.

The best part is there is no room for excuses because you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home to make it happen.

DIY Paint and Sip

I have attended a few of these events and have always had a wonderful time. It would be such a fun date night to surprise your hubby with some canvases, paint, brushes, and wine. You can pick a photo online for you two to paint together on one canvas or on separate canvases. Then see who is the Picasso in the relationship. It can be flirty and something different from the normal hustle and bustle that comes with the evening routines of running a household.

Chef Love

Similar to the night my husband and I had, find a yummy recipe online of something you two love to eat. You could get fancy and do a lobster dinner for two complete with sides, or even surf and turf! Once you pick your meal, set up a romantic indoor picnic on the floor of your living area where you can enjoy it together after you’re done cooking. Cook the meal together and then enjoy it over wine, candlelight, and some romantic tunes playing in the background.

A Spin On Take Out

Not to stay on food, but it is the way to one’s heart right? Order your favorite takeout and plan an evening full of reconnecting. Search online for a dating questionnaire and ask questions while enjoying dinner. Sometimes when you are with someone for so long, you may not realize some of the small details that you didn’t know or have possibly even forgotten. Treat it like a first date and focus on what you loved so much about them during your real first date.

Spa Night at Home

Couples massage anyone? You don’t have to be a professional masseuse to give a sensual massage. Set up candles all around your bedroom and bathroom. Run a bath and fill it with flower petals. Grab some massage oils and lotions and invite your love to a spa night. Take turns giving each other massages and then move to a bubble bath to soak your cares away. From there the night is young and the possibilities are endless.

I hope that these ideas will inspire you to spice up your dating life a bit more. Motherhood brings on so many challenges and the guilt of showing your husband the love doesn’t have to be one of them. Mark a few of these date nights on the calendar and mix it up. Surprise them with just how much you care.
