Galentine’s Day Brunch: Celebrate the Ladies in Your Life

0

Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.

If you are a Parks and Rec fan, you may be familiar with Galentine’s Day. But if you’ve never seen the show, let me give you some insight: Galentine’s Day is about celebrating the ladies in your life. The women you can always turn to for advice, the ones you don’t need to dress up for, and the ones who want to see you succeed. You need a good set of gal pals to get through all the stages of your life, so why not celebrate them with a festive brunch?

Here’s how you can host your own Galentine’s Day brunch.

The Menu

If you’re hosting a large event, you can do things potluck style and ask everyone to bring an item. My Galentine’s Day brunch was small, so I opted to provide everything. I kept the menu simple–something sweet, something savory, something bubbly. Here is what my menu looked like:

  • Breakfast casserole
  • Make your own parfait bar
    • Vanilla yogurt
    • Berries
    • Granola
  • Pastries – I opted for mini donuts but any pastry items will do.
  • Mimosa bar – You can also include a sparkling cider as a non-alcoholic option.

Decorations

You know that dollar section you find when you first enter Target? The one where items are priced under $5? Well, that section is going to be your best friend when decorating for your Galentine’s Day brunch. I found an adorable heart garland, straws, plates, and some awesome napkins (#gals). And I spent less than $10.

Favors

For any party, I like to make sure the favors are something practical. I found inspiration from the Favorite Things Party back in December and gifted my girlfriends a face mask, this adorable hair clip, and my favorite lip gloss.

I encourage you to celebrate the ladies in your life this Galentine’s Day. It doesn’t have to be a big production. You can even host at a restaurant instead so no one has to worry about providing food. The important thing is to get in some quality gal pal time. We all know it takes a village, so it’s important to foster these friendships. In the words of Leslie Knope:

Uteruses before Duderuses . . . Ovaries before Brovaries.

Happy Galentine’s Day!
