Montessori ONE Academy
Montessori ONE Academy is Albuquerque’s only Association Montessori International/USA (AMI/USA) recognized school. As one of the city’s top private schools, Montessori ONE children progress through and consistently exceed standardized benchmarks.
The Montessori curriculum promotes a global perspective that is academically rich and challenging. Its integrated, thematic approach ties the separate disciplines together into a coherent, meaningful whole. Science and social sciences such as anthropology, biology, astronomy, geology, history and chemistry are integrated with mathematics, language, arts, and music. In this way, students develop contextual understanding that informs future learning and problem solving. Hands-on materials demonstrate abstract concepts in a concrete manner, so children develop a deep understanding of complex concepts.
Fostering independence is an important part of Montessori philosophy. Students are gifted with ownership over their own learning. They work individually or collaborate in small, self-selected groups. Teachers actively observe and assess the child’s choices; they are ready to step in with new challenges and offer guidance when students are unable to choose for themselves.
Cottonwood School offers unparalleled Montessori teaching for pre-K through 6th grade on our beautiful 7 acre campus located in Corrales.
We believe that environmental education supports students in growing their connections to the natural world, which sustains us all. When students appreciate their environment they continue wondering and learning throughout their lives. They become conscientious citizens and stewards of the earth. Our unique gardening program is an environmental science model which emphasizes sustainability and resourcefulness in harmony with nature.
In addition to environmental education, we also pride ourselves on our weekly enrichment programs and low student to teacher ratios (12:1) in our Early Childhood and Elementary programs.
Come visit our school during our two Open Houses, October 4, 2019 and February 2, 2020 for a chance to meet our nurturing staff and learn more about our belief in whole child, whole brain learning experiences.

Acton Academy Albuquerque is a mastery-based, learner-driven school for grades K-12.
Shouldn’t school be preparing kids to succeed as adults? The world is in a constant state of change. In addition to strong academics, our kids will need to be strong communicators, collaborators, agile critical thinkers, and calculated risk takers. They won’t develop those skills regurgitating information on tests.
Our students set their own goals, work at their own pace in core skills like math and grammar, use accountability and governance systems to run their own Studios, and participate in Socratic discussions and hands on projects. They learn to lead by serving others. Oh, and we don’t assign homework. Ever.
If you are an out-of-the box thinker looking for a learning environment that will foster creativity, agency, kindness, and entrepreneurship, then we are the school for you.
