We are excited to present our readers with ABQ Mom’s Guide to Summer Camps. This guide is a one-stop shop for parents as you decide where to send your children to summer camp.

Summer Prep

What do Minecraft, Aikido, and Hogwarts School have in common? They are all classes at SummerPrep 2024! SummerPrep, Sandia Prep’s summer program, runs from June 3 – July 12 for students from any school in grades Pre-K through high school. They offer enriching and creative classes and opportunities to learn new skills or build on existing talents. More than 100 tech, art, athletic, and academic classes are offered every year for students from any school in Pre-K through high school.

New classes this year include My First Lemonade Stand, Real-World Graphic Design, Pokémon, Aikido Bootcamp, Jr. CEOs, Young Trailblazers: Five-Day Outdoor Adventure, and many more! Fan favorites like their famous Main Stage Theater productions (Wizard of Oz and Disney’s Frozen JR.), Hogwarts School, Kids Cook!, and Minecraft are returning!

At SummerPrep, they foster discovery and exploration and encourage students to enjoy themselves in a safe, supportive environment.

Manzano Day School Summer Discovery

Manzano Day School has an adventure in store for you!

Their new Summer Discovery is proud to offer so many exciting sessions ranging from yoga to math, dance to reading, and the fundamentals of volleyball, and that is just a few! These specialty classes are designed to academically prepare students for the upcoming school year and to encourage movement and creativity for all ages!

Summer Discovery will be made up of three blocks: June 3-14, June 17-28, and July 1-12. The program costs $400 per block for half a day, $700 per block for a full day, and $1,999 for all three blocks for a full day! Extended care will be available from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for an additional fee.

HOPE Christian School

HOPE Summer Camp

Join HOPE Christian for an unforgettable summer of fun and memory-making with fellow campers at their Elementary’s beautiful state-of-the-art campus along Paseo del Norte in NE Albuquerque. Children need not attend HOPE Christian School to enroll in their summer camps.

Camp Engage is an all-day experience for students entering 1st-5th grade. Campers will be guided through a rotating schedule full of activities, games, and outdoor fun! There are themes for each week of camp like ​Tropics, Olympics, Master Chef, Wild West, S.T.E.M., and two Water weeks! Sign your child up for one or all eight. 

HOPE Engage Athletic Camps range from 2-5 days in length and give students the opportunity to learn about specific sports from our high school coaches and players through games, competitions, and workshops.  Soccer, basketball, volleyball, football, cheer/drill, and more.  

All Star Bible Sports Camp in August is a sort of VBS / Athletic Camp combo, where students entering 1st through 5th grade experience all the sports – soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf, and flag football (or a dance/drill option for the girls). Each day will include Bible study, singing, and prayer time to strengthen them spiritually as well as physically.

Opera Unlimited

Opera Unlimited
Give your child a summer of enrichment and achievement as they join Opera Unlimited for their annual Summer Youth Opera Day Camp featuring a fully-staged performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE. No experience necessary. Kids learn about music, acting, and theater arts from professionals. Camp rehearsals take place on weekday afternoons June 3 – July 3. Public performances will be July 5 – 6 at 7 p.m.

Camp is open to elementary, middle, and high school students. Tuition is $100 per student for the entire camp (5 weeks) with a 10% discount for families with more than one student. Scholarships are available.

Summer @ Menaul

Summer @ Menaul.

At Summer @ Menaul, they believe in the value of play. The most important elements of Summer @ Menaul are as follows:

  • Physical exercise and relationships
  • Communication and cooperation skills
  • Exploration and curiosity
  • Problem-solving and adaptability
  • Imagination and reflection

Kids need ample time that is under scheduled and that provides choices to develop healthy habits. As an alternative to screen or couch time, Summer @ Menaul offers a balance of activities that support social, emotional, and physical health. Students engage in a wide variety of activities without having to specialize in one skill or subject area. Summer @ Menaul is divided into two areas: Panther Camp for ages 5-10 and Adventure and Leadership Camp for ages 11-14. The cost of Summer @ Menaul is a weekly fee of $375 before March 1st and $400 after March 1st. Child drop-off is between 7:30 am and 9:00 am. Pick-up is between 3:45 pm and 4:30 pm. Aftercare is between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm and costs $10 per day.
