We want to thank i9 Sports for sponsoring our Mom’s Guide to August. i9 Sports is a youth sports league committed to providing today’s busy families with FUN, safe, and age appropriate instruction. They offer soccer, flag football, basketball, tball, cheer, and lacrosse! Plus, volleyball is coming in winter! No tryouts required, equal playing time provided, and weekly sportsmanship lessons taught to each team. Fall is a great time to get your child involved in a team sport! Registration is NOW OPEN for the fall season on i9’s website. The fall season launches September 15th. The deadline to register is August 17th (a late fee will be applied to any registrations after this deadline).

Park Hop with ABQ Moms Blog 

8/1 @ 9 AM Manzano Mesa Park. Join the ABQ Moms Blog Crew for a fun playdate at the park. There will be vendors on site, popsicles for the kids, and Manzano Mesa Park splashpad. Baby Boot Camp will also be there for a quick workout demo. Bring the kids for a great day with us! Check out more info here

Davita Medical Group “Get Shots”

8/1 @ 9 AM – 5 PM Rio Rancho Pediatrics clinic. In partnership with the NM Immunization Coalition, DaVita Medical Group will be participating in “Got Shots”. This event will provide an opportunity for your children to get up-to-date on their immunizations before the new school year starts. Many children need immunizations in order to be able to register for school, and DaVita Medical Group wants to make getting that taken care of easy and convenient for your busy lifestyle! We’ll provide your child’s immunizations even without an appointment, at no cost to you. All patients, regardless of insurance, are welcome to visit our clinic during this “Got Shots” event! Jazzed Up School Supplies- Family Craft at the Library

8/1 @ 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM Taylor Ranch Library. Bring the family to the library for some personalization of their new school supplies. Families are welcome to bring their own photos and patterns to add their own unique touch to the supplies.  Information can be found here

Princess and Pirate Night at Isotopes Park

8/3 @ 6:35 PM Isotopes Park. Come enjoy a night out at the ballpark with your little princess or pirate. Get the babes dressed up and experience all the family fun all while watching the Isotopes take on Round Rock Express. To join the fun and snag tickets please click here.  

5th Annual BernCo Bernie’s Sheep Day and First Impression Youth Rodeo

8/4 @ 9 AM – 4 PM Bernalillo County’s Dennison Park Rodeo Grounds. This free event is great for the whole family. There will be lunch vendors, fun jumpers, face painting, and a horseshoe tournament.  To check out more on this event click here. 

Colibri Flight Academy

8/4 @ 12 PM – 3 PM Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. Learn to fly Drones with Colibri Flight Academy! Colibri Flight Academy is an Albuquerque program with monthly classes on how to fly drones! With school out and summer in session, our goal is to offer a fun and educational experience for Albuquerque kids and families. 

Chris Stapleton in Concert

United Healthcare’s Hay Más Adelante

8/11 @ 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM The Albuquerque Museum. United Healthcare will host Hay Más Adelante, a series of health and wellness educational events, in Albuquerque on August 11, 2018 to help seniors and other beneficiaries learn more about Medicare and their health care coverage options. The events will feature the following list of renowned keynote speakers and musical performances to engage and motivate participants in a celebration of health. Women’s Summit 2018: I am Built For This

8/12 @ 12 – 5 PM The View Event Center. This event is all about celebrating and empowering women. There will be keynote speakers, activities, live music and drinks. Study Buddy Adoption

APS Medicaid Enrollment & Back to School Health Fair

8/17 @ 8 AM – 4 PM Alice & Bruce King Educational Complex. Come for a private consultation and on-site enrollment for medicaid and to qualify for free or reduced medical care before your child starts the new school year. Aquarium Overnight

8/17 @ 6:30pm ABQ BioPark Aquarium. Bring your jammies and sleeping bags and come spend the night with the fishies and the sharks at the ABQ BioPark Aquarium. This month’s theme is Sleeping With the Sharks. For information on tickets please visit the BioPark website.

Corduroy Character Storytime & Snack Time

8/17 @ 6-8pm Barnes & Noble (3701-A Ellison Drive NW). Corduroy is visiting us for for a special event! We’ll be doing a craft, coloring, PLUS having storytime & snacks with Corduroy the bear. Reservations are encouraged for this event and can be made in person. Reservations include photo-op, snack from the café, plus storytime and crafts with Corduroy. Live, Love, Latch!

8/18 @ 10 AM Tiguex Park. Come enjoy this free event for the whole family. It is time to play, visit and support breastfeeding in our community. There will be free refreshments as well as a free nursing bra while supplies last. Learn more about La Leche League. There will also be LLL books, nursing necklaces, and group memberships for sale. Bosque Chile Festival

8/18 @ 10 AM – 7 PM National Hispanic Cultural Center. Celebrate every New Mexicans favorite food- Chile! Enjoy food, art, demonstrations and even a 5k fun run. The Dirty Dash

Tinkergarten Free Trial Class

8/23 @ 9 AM . Nature-based educational program that aims to get young children and their families outside to learn and play together. We help kids develop a host of important capabilities, including empathy, collaboration, creativity, persistence and problem solving for caregivers and their children ages 18mo-8yrs. 8/25 @ 4- 10 PM Downtown Albuquerque. This is a city wide festival that showcases everything awesome that our city has to offer. 2018 Albuquerque Tomato Fiesta

8/26 @ 11 AM – 3 PM Albuquerque Garden Center. Calling all gardeners and tomato lovers, come join the mayor for Heirloom Tomato tastings and sales, live music, and free plant clinic and kids activities. For info visit the website here.

ABQ Food Fridays

Starting 5/25 every Friday @ 6 PM Civic Plaza. Each week a local restaurant brings a special menu to the Silver Spoon – Civic Plazas own food truck. Music, beverages and fun for the family will all be offered at these events.  For more info check here. 

Kids Yoga at Yoga Art Space

Every Tuesday and Sunday. Each Tuesday and Sunday bring your child to get their yogi on at this half hour class. They offer classes for mamas as well! For more information on schedule, pricing, and instructors visit the website here.

Tasty Tuesdays

Every Tuesday Hyder Park. An evening of great fun for the whole family, bring your blankets, toys, and empty stomachs. Read to the Dogs

Toddler Time at Explora

Spook Troop Ghost Hunting Tour

Every Weekend @ 6 PM History & Ghost Tours of Old Town. A children friendly ghost hunting outdoor tour. Ages 6-12 JR. Ghost hunters are invited to come take part in this information filled tour. Check it out here
