Albuquerque

My love of Albuquerque came slowly.  A country girl, I grew up in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico.  I moved to Albuquerque in 2006 to pursue a B.A. in creative writing at the University of New Mexico.  At first, I hated the city and felt terribly homesick.  However, I began taking daily walks in view of Sandia Peak. Seeing this magnificent mountain in all its varying moods helped ease my homesickness.  It became like a personal friend to me, as almost anywhere I went in the city I could look up and see it.  Now, though I will always be a country girl at heart, Albuquerque has become home to me.  I have grown to love the beauty of the high desert and the interesting and diverse people who live here.

Moms

My journey to motherhood did not go conventionally.  We experienced the heartbreak of miscarrying our first two babies.  After this we were unsure if we would be able to have children.  However, I did become pregnant again and gave birth to a healthy little boy, David, in August 2014. He is a great blessing and joy to us.  We hope to have more children one day, but for now, this sweet, stubborn, active little toddler keeps me pretty busy.  Parenting is definitely the most difficult, as well as the most rewarding job I have ever undertaken.

Blog

I love connecting with other moms, especially moms who are in a similar stage of life.  I am also passionate about writing.  This blog is a wonderful place to do both.  I am excited to share about my own journey–thoughts, stories, successes and failures–while hearing about those of others.  My posts will be written from the perspective of someone who is daily finding herself and what I thought I knew challenged.  I am ever growing as a parent and a person, through my interactions with this little boy.
