Guide to Apple Orchards in the Albuquerque Area

Move over, pumpkin spice. Apples with cinnamon. Apples with caramel. Or just apples on their own are the fall flavor so many of us crave. There are so many apple recipe options and don’t even get me started on the smell — THE BEST. Create your own apple tradition by checking out one of New Mexico’s own apple orchards.

Alary Farm

6322 Corrales Road, Corrales

This tranquil orchard right on the main drag in Corrales updates its website regularly when different varieties of apples are available. You can even sign up for their newsletter to get an update regarding when your favorite apples are ripe.

Costanza Orchard

5 Padilla Road, Belen, NM

More than 1,000 apple trees grow in this orchard, which produces 10 different kinds of apples, along with peaches and pears. You can pick your own or just purchase fruit.

Dixon’s Apple Orchard

For decades, Dixon’s Champagne apples were a staple in New Mexico. However, in 2011 a tragic wildfire followed by a flood decimated the beloved orchard. The family has since moved to Wisconsin where they’ve planted a new orchard complete with the Champagne apple, which was discovered growing in a canyon right here in New Mexico. Lucky for us, Dixon’s ships to New Mexico and is bringing a truckload of apples and cider to Albuquerque on August 30!

Hays Honey & Apple Farm

401 Esperanza Drive, Bosque Farms

There is no customer apple picking at this farm, but you can choose to purchase one of 13 varieties of apples. In addition, Hays Honey & Apple Farm boasts local honey and all kinds of salves, creams, and candles made with beeswax.

Montoya Orchard

249 County Road 59 Velarde, NM 87582

Montoya’s Orchard has been family-owned and operated for four generations. This orchard, located in Velarde, NM, specializes in apples and fresh-pressed apple cider. No public apple picking this year. But you can find Montoya’s at area farmer’s markets including The Railyard Market.

Wagner’s Farm

5000 Corrales Road, Corrales, NM

Wagner’s Farm has a lovely fruit and veggie market open every day from 9 am-5 pm. They open their apple orchards up for apple picking sometime around the second week of October. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for exact dates and times for apple picking. They’ve said they will update there when the fruit is perfectly ripe.

If you’re up for a bit of a drive, there are quite a few U-pick apple orchards in the southern part of our state. Find out more here.
